Belle Isle Moonshine was founded in 2013 in Richmond, VA by Vince & Brian, two brothers-in-law who set out to tap into the rich history of America’s original clear spirit: moonshine. Prior to rise of imported spirits like vodka and tequila, Americans distilled and drank our own unaged white whiskey (a.k.a. “moonshine”).
Vince & Brian started with a very simple question: why are vodka and tequila so popular in America today? They found their answer – vodka and tequila had premium products like Grey Goose and Patrón that people clamored after, but moonshine did not. Thus began their quest to create the first premium moonshine.
Belle Isle Moonshine started out humbly as just one product – our flagship Belle Isle Black Label, available only by special order in Virginia. Vince & Brian hit the streets (and bars), sharing the Belle Isle vision and getting it into the hands of consumers and key industry partners.
