Gather Round the Bowl Punch, featuring James River Distillery

This crowd pleaser is the perfect punch to make for holiday celebrations (or really anytime). Make ahead and actually get to enjoy spending time with your guests rather than spending all your time fixing drinks. Feel free to substitute juices or fruit depending on the holiday/season.

INGREDIENTS
8 oz. Arctic Snow Vodka
2 oz. Jackson & James Rum
8 oz. Cranberry juice
4 oz. Lemonade
4 oz. Orange juice
8 oz Soda water
dash of cinnamon (optional)
Fresh or frozen pomegranates (or berries)

PREPARATION
Combine all ingredients in a punchbowl or pitcher. Serve over ice

Hot Buttered Rum, Featuring Vitae Spirits Distillery

There is nothing better than a spicy rich hot rum drink on a cold winter day. This member of our Winter 2016 tasting room cocktail menu is not for the faint at heart.

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 oz. Vitae Spirits Platinum Rum
3 oz. (~2 to 3 tbs) spiced butter
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
hot water
__________________

SPICED BUTTER
1/4 cup quality salted butter
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tbs high grade molasses
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 ground fresh ginger
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
Mix all ingredients. Microwave briefly if needed to soften butter. Let sit at least overnight in the refrigerator.

Plantation Punch, Featuring Belmont Farm Distillery

The perfect punch to ring in the New Year! Plantation Punch is named after the idea of celebrations with family and friends on large, historical farms like our own. Mix up a bowl of our punch on December 31st, and hope the ball drops before you do!

INGREDIENTS
2 oz Kopper Kettle Dark Chai Spiced Rum
.5 oz Virginia Lightning Cherry Moonshine
2 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz Orange Juice

Golden Oldie, featuring Vitae Spirits

This cocktail was inspired by the classic smashes and juleps. The deep muddling of basil gives it a refreshing and herbaceous flavor that is sure to satisfy on a warm spring or summer day.

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 oz. Vitae Spirits Golden Rum
1 tbs cane sugar
1/4 oz. cinnamon orange bitters
lemon peel
rum cured cherry

PREPARATION
Muddle lemon peel with bitters and sugar in a rocks glass.
Add ice and rum. Stir until sugar has dissolved.
Garnish with a cherry.

Gimme Some Lovin’, featuring Copper Fox

A variation of an old favorite of ours from back in January 2017, the theme of the night was the music of Steve Winwood.

INGREDIENTS
Glassware: Libbey Chicago-Style Old Fashioned Glass (or any similar rocks glass)
Mixing Tin
1oz Copper Fox Rye
1oz Stone Ginger Wine
1oz House-made Blueberry Puree
Soda Water
Ice Cubes
Blueberries & Mint Leaves
Peachwood Chips
Butane Lighter

PREPARATION
1. Torch Peachwood Chips with a Butane Lighter. Place glassware on top of the torched Peachwood Chips, capturing the smoke inside the glass.
2. In a Mixing Tin, add ice, 1oz Copper Fox Rye Whiskey, 1oz Stone Ginger Wine, & 1oz House-made Blueberry Puree.
3. Shake the contents of the Mixing Tin.
4. Remove the glassware from the Peachwood Chips, and add the contents of the Mixing Tin to the glass.  Top with Soda Water.
5. Mint Leaf & Blueberry Garnish.

Platinum Daiquiri, featuring Vitae Spirits

This cocktail was inspired by the classic daiquiri. The simplicity of its ingredients allows our platinum rum to shine through and the vanilla bean simple syrup accentuates the flavors already present in the rum. This cocktail is perfect for a hot day, by the pool or beach. It is simple, quick to make, and very refreshing!

INGREDIENTS
1.5 oz Vitae Spirits Platinum Rum
1 oz Vanilla bean Simple syrup
juice from half a lime

VANILLA BEAN SYRUP
Bring 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup water to a boil and then simmer in a covered pot . Turn off heat and add 1/4 of a vanilla bean. Let cool and store in refrigerator with the vanilla bean in the syrup for up to one month.

New Delhi Mai Tai, featuring Belmont Farms

Our beverage menu of ‘Inspired Cocktails’ reflects the menu of ‘Global Comfort Food’ at Food.Bar.Food.  We infuse liquors and make syrups and housemade mixers to bring flavors from around the world into our cocktails.  Belmont Farm’s Kopper Kettle Dark Chai Spice Rum has a depth of flavor that can’t be achieved by in-house infusions! 

INGREDIENTS
1 ounce Kopper Kettle Dark Chai Spice Rum
1/2 ounce amaretto
3 ounces mango nectar
3 ounces coconut-pineapple nectar
squeeze in one lime wedge

PREPARATION
Add a scoop of ice, shake to combine. Pour into glass and garnish with frozen mango & coconut cube

Songbird, featuring Vitae Spirits

The Local focuses on (you guessed it: local) home-grown traditional American cuisine, with some Asian, French, and Italian influence. As Alec says, “the local products available to us are fantastic, and are held to an extremely high standard in this area by both restaurants and consumers alike. And as far as freshness goes, it’s a no-brainer: the closer your product is created, the fresher it will be when you serve/pour/sell it to your customers!”

INGREDIENTS
2 oz. Vitae Platinum Rum
¾ oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz. Blueberry-Lavender-Mint Cordial**
small pinch of salt 

PREPARATION
Add all ingredients to a shaker. Add ice, shake until well-chilled, and double strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a floating lavender sprig or a lime peel.

Partial Eclipse, featuring Belmont Farms

Inspired by the upcoming solar event! This classic Daiquiri made with Exotic Chai Spices in Belmont Farm’s rich dark rum are a perfect late summer sipper for watching the stars day or night.

INGREDIENTS
1.5 oz Belmont Farms Chai Rum
.5 oz Honey Syurp
.5 oz Chai Tea
.5 oz Lemon Juice

PREPARATION
Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and shake hard. Strain into a chilled cocktail coupe and garnish with a lemon wheel and star anise.

William Street Cooler, featuring James River Distillery

A version of a tiki/tropical drink that uses a cordial from local raspberries. Named after the street where our restaurant is located.

INGREDIENTS
2 oz Jackson & James Rum
.5 oz fresh lime juice
.75 oz raspberry syrup
1 oz coconut cream
3 drops orange blossom water

PREPARATION
Combine in shake tin, add ice and shake well. Strain into glass filled 2/3 full with crushed ice. Top with more crushed ice, garnish with raspberries and pineapple leaf (or other tiki garnishes).
