We are Virginia The Birthplace of American Spirits
Distilled spirits have long defined Virginia's story. In 1620, Virginia colonist George Thorpe distilled the first batch of corn whiskey. What started with one batch grew into a flourishing industry of nearly 3,600 distilleries by 1810. Over 400 years later and despite challenges brought by Prohibition, distillers today continue to honor the family legacies, recipes and traditions of Virginia-made spirits.
