Eight Shires Distillery is a micro craft distillery located near the heart of the beautiful Colonial Williamsburg. Our spirits are hand-crafted using historic recipes and ingredients of the 18th century. We offer our Jamestown Gin, made from Virginia grains; and Yorktown Rum, made from organic molasses. Take a gander to our “Where to Buy” page for more information on how to obtain your very own bottle.
We are the only distillery in the world to use Indian Corn in our Whiskey mashes to make our Bourbon and Gin. Yes, it has a different taste. The first corn whiskey ever created used Indian corn (American Maize). Our bourbon even uses Reverend George Thorpe’s original recipe, aged in new charred oak barrels. We even use whiskey, rather than vodka, to create our gin. Even our Silver Rum is historic; Inspired by William Rogers, a 1720s Yorktown bootlegger, our Rum is made from organic, non-GMO sweet molasses. It is hand-crafted just as it would have been made in 1720.
Upon visiting Eight Shires Distillery, guests can enjoy a free sample of our Colonial Silver or Gold Rum or our Genever Gin. We offer eight colonial and modern drink options, ranging from the classic Rum and Coke to seasonal colonial favorites. Since opening in October 2015, Eight Shires Coloniale Distillery has won several awards at various craft distillers competitions.
