  • RICHMOND, VA (February 28) - Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that Filibuster Distillery will invest $795,000 to expand their whiskey production operation in Shenandoah County and create eight new jobs over the next three years. The company will source 100% of its corn and rye from Virginia farmers, committing to purchase over 1.57 million pounds of grain. “I applaud Filibuster Distillery’s continued investment in Shenandoah County,” said Governor McAuliffe. “Their expansion will create needed jobs and investment in the Shenandoah Valley, and contribute to Virginia’s reputation as a world-class craft beverage producer. This AFID grant leverages our diverse agriculture industry, one of the Commonwealth’s greatest assets, to help build the new Virginia economy.”

  • Richmond, VA (February 27, 2017) – Last week, Governor Terry McAuliffe formally signed off on Senate Bill 1448 and House Bill 2029 which are identical bills presented by the Virginia Distillers Association (VDA); which will enable Virginia distilleries to sell bottles at events conducted for the purpose of featuring and educating the consuming public about spirits effective July 1, 2017. VDA President and CEO of Virginia Distillery Company Gareth Moore said in a statement, “Virginia legislators are becoming much more enthusiastic and supportive of Virginia’s burgeoning craft spirits industry; this recent legislation is a success for expanding market access in partnership with Virginia ABC.   • Roanoke, VA (November 5, 2016) – Sip and savor Virginia spirits at the first-ever 100% made-in-Virginia distilled spirits festival; which will be the largest consumer event for in-state distillers on the East Coast, all under one roof! Patrons of the Virginia Craft Spirits Showcase will meet Master Distillers from more than 20 Virginia distilleries, sample unique cocktails, and get new recipes. All in a fun atmosphere with live music, a food truck from Martins Downtown Bar & Grill, additional food vendors, and a sampling of some of the best Virginia craft beers. Live music provided by My Radio Band. Plus, at the end of the Showcase there will be an interactive Battle of the Bartenders Competition to determine the best Virginia cocktail crafted by regional mixologists!

  • MANASSAS, VA – September 6, 2016 – KO Distilling – Manassas’ first craft distillery – will celebrate one year in business this month. Long-time friends and college classmates, Bill Karlson and John O’Mara, established KO Distilling in May 2013. After two and a half years of planning, building, testing, and sampling, KO Distilling opened its doors to the public on September 12, 2015. Since then, KO has hosted over 3,000 visitors and has sold more than 5,000 bottles of their craft spirits.
