This cocktail was inspired by the classic smashes and juleps. The deep muddling of basil gives it a refreshing and herbaceous flavor that is sure to satisfy on a warm spring or summer day.
Chilled Coupe Glass
5-8 basil leaves
1 1/2 oz Continental Gin from James River Distillery
1/2 oz rich simple syrup
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
1/4 oz Green Chartreuse
In small part of shaking tin, add the basil and RSS and muddle. Next add the rest of the ingredients. Shake vigorously with ice for 10-12 seconds. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a mint leaf. Be sure to smack the mint to release the essence.
